Bio:

As editor of the school paper in our senior year, I oversaw the change of name from Highlander to Vertigo, and its frequency from bi-weekly to weekly. There was a brief experiment with a daily format. I recall that we were fortunate to have a supportive journalism advisor as well as the printing facility in the shop room next to where we produced the content that made it possible to increase the frequency.

My memory is that the most positive reaction was from sports teams that liked having their games reported more quickly.

At Michigan State I met and married Beckie. Because we wanted to try living outside the States for awhile, we moved to Toronto after college graduation. I started at a business newspaper called The Financial Post and it turned out to be a remarkable group of people and an excellent company. My roles in publishing evolved from the editorial to the business side, with a long tenure in the robust days of magazines. We both enjoyed satisfying careers and raised two great children. We never had any reason to move back to the States and are very happy in Canada.
