Bio: After some temporary employment in Ann Arbor after college graduation, I put most of my belongings in my car and joined two friends from college in Washington, DC in 1975. I have lived in the DC area ever since. Upon arrival, I spent the next 7 1/2 years working on Capitol Hill for two US House members, and from there worked as a lobbyist for AAA for a few more years. Childcare was impossible when our kids were very young, so after a "break" I began working again in 1995 as a tax preparer, and retired in mid-2013.

I've had some great opportunities, and only a few regrets about the ones I didn't take! After my YFU summer of 1969 in Finland, I have stayed close to my Finnish "sister" and continue to have a severe case of wanderlust. We have been fortunate to travel extensively in our retirement, but there are many places I still need to visit.
Our son John now lives in Los Angeles, but we stay connected any way we can. Our daughter Ellen and her husband live and work in the DC suburbs, so are close by. Our family is very small but tight-knit, which is a great joy.
