Bio:
My life for awhile after high school was a bit of a roller coaster ride. After a lot of travel, adventure, and a few different universities, I finally finished my bachelor's degree in Nutrition at UC Davis in California. I met my husband, Tom, there as he was finishing his masters. We married in 1982, moved to Lodi, CA where he taught high school for 6 years and we had our 2 children, Sarah and Andrew. We then moved to Ithaca, NY so that he could get his PhD in Agriculture and Extension Education at Cornell. After Tom graduated, we ended up at New Mexico State University (NMSU) in Las Cruces, NM as it was the only job available in the country, and we have been here for 33 years! I got my master's here at NMSU in 1992 and then taught and advised at Dona Ana Community College (part of the NMSU system) for 25 years until my retirement in 2018. Tom enjoyed his 32 years as a professor and just retired in February of 2021. We enjoy hiking, biking, traveling, and getting up to our condo in northern NM for cooler weather, mountains, trees, and lots of outdoor activities. Our 2 children, son-in-law, and granddaughter all now live in Albuquerque, so we get to see them quite often which is wonderful. I have been active in a women's service organization, Soroptimist International of Las Cruces, for over 25 years which has been very rewarding.
