7pm release: CHEERS! A Virtual 50th Anniversary Celebration

Hello.

You have your programs, and drinks in hand…
Please raise your glass.

TO THE SEAHOLM CLASS OF 1970,

TO OUR SUCCESSES,
AND OUR FAILURES.

TO OUR LOVES,
AND OUR LOSSES.

AND AS WE FIND OURSELVES IN A WORLD
NOT THAT DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE WE VOWED TO CHANGE,
LET’S DRINK TO PERSEVERANCE
AND THE ULTIMATE ACHIEVEMENT OF OUR GOALS.

TO GOOD HUMOR,
AND GOOD HEALTH.

AND LET US BE THANKFUL
FOR NO MATTER HOW DISTANT FROM ONE ANOTHER,
OR HOW SEEMINGLY DIFFERENT WE MAY APPEAR,
OUR SHARED ROOTS WILL ALWAYS BIND US TOGETHER.

CONGRATULATIONS!

AND CHEERS!

9pm release: A Nightcap

Hello.

I’ve received very nice notes of concern from many of you, since the decision to postpone THE 2020 REUNION.

Yes, I am disappointed, but no differently than all of you.

Tonight, it was a great thing to virtually reunite and remember a major event in our lives on the actual anniversary. I don’t think many classes do this, but then, we were never any ordinary class.

Now, if you are not sentimental, Good Night. It was great to be with you, if only virtually.

But… if you are sentimental, please join me in a nightcap before bed, with lights turned low, and listen to the words of this song.  I think it sums up exactly what I’m feeling in light of the postponement.

It was written before we were born by Leonard Bernstein, and is performed here by Blossom Dearie.

Good night, and we’ll catch up some other time.
