Bio: My wife, Raf, and I met in math grad school in a Set Theory class. After several semesters of math graduate work, both of us decided to change our direction of study, with me moving to Computer Science and Raf moving to Art. After finishing my Computer Science PhD, I joined the faculty at Dartmouth College in the Department of Math & Computer Science. From there I joined Cornell University's Computer Science Department to work on a research project that was scheduled to run for 2 or 3 years. Somehow, those 2 or 3 years became 20 years. At that point (2008), I changed research direction again to work on developing algorithms for plant breeding at Nature Source Improved Plants, a small company located in Ithaca, NY. We have 3 children: Marika (artist), Camille (artist), and Selene (math & computer science). Our main hobbies are biking, board games, and finding good food.
