Bio: I attended U of M in Ann Arbor where I met my husband Bob Wyatt (BSCE 73) and we married in January 1974. We located in Northern Oakland County as he began his career a GM and I worked for a medical billing company. Our children were born in 1977 and 1979 and I earned my MBA while they were young.
I started volunteering with several organizations, serving on the Board of Directors of HAVEN, Oakland County's Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counseling Center and the Child and Neglect Council of Oakland County. I began working at HAVEN as the Fund Development Director, writing grants and coordinating events, including several with the championship Detroit Pistons and WXYZ personalities such as Diana Lewis as headliners. I still have autographed programs with signatures of Isaiah Thomas, Vinnie Johnson and Joe Dumars.
I was also involved with my church and heard a call to ministry. I began working at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church as Director of Christian Education and then as the traveling Christian Educator for the Detroit Conference, covering the Eastern half of the Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula. I was ordained a deacon in 2002 and finished my ministry at Clarkston United Methodist Church, retiring in 2015.
Retirement has been a blend of being Nana to Karson, 8 and Eli 6; traveling with Bob; and enjoying our cottage in Bay View in Petoskey. I am active in my local P.E.O. chapter, which raises funds for scholarships, loans and grants to support women completing their post high school education and also identifies women to sponsor for these programs. I sing in the church choir and continue to promote faith formation and social justice through education, mission and advocacy.
