In 1963 the family traveled west and visited medical missionary relatives in Ganado Arizona, land of the Hopi. Little did I think that such an event would color the remainder of my life and career. Yes, as many, I pursued a traditional medical career. Yet I returned west several times including serving as an internist on the Apache Indian Reservation. Even a stint as an academic professor didn't turn the tide as I finally settled in Albuquerque, NM with a career focused in cardiology and the care of a unique population. Marriage (Alice Lloyd) and two children (Martha and Haley) added significant meaning to those commitments. And beyond serving patients energy flowed towards hospital development, several novel enterprises and most recently the book On LIFE, and its companion On LIFE Journal. And that's not to say there wasn't plenty of adventure along the way. All thanks to a wonderful lift off in Birmingham Michigan, a great family and enduring friends.
