Hello.
THE 2020 REUNION is now only nine months away!
Mary Lamont was just in town, we got together with Sue Whitall and did a little reunion work:
Our facebook group-page is titled “Seaholm Class of 1970”. If you are a facebook member and search for our title, a page will display a JOIN button. This is new and will help some of you who haven’t been offered that link before. Mary will accept you and then you will be able to see the announcements, photos and chat. The reason we are keeping this a private group is to prevent the page from quickly being overrun with advertising and spammers. Only members can see what is displayed there.
If you are not a facebook member, it is easy to join at facebook.com with just your name, email address, birth date and current gender.
If you have sworn to never join facebook because you don’t want the NSA on your tail, I get it. Sadly, I think I’m already on all the “Undesirable” lists the government has, so I have more than facebook to worry about. Still, it seems you might be ok if you only sign up for our page, never look at anything else and never post. Anything.
Even Dana Newhouse is on facebook and I suspect the feds are still after him for publishing an underground newspaper... FIFTY years ago!
There seems to be some skill involved in managing a facebook page which we have not yet acquired so please be patient. I thought it might be nice to make the photos from THE 2010 REUNION available again. I just tried to create a new album titled THE 2010 PUB CRAWL. I followed the steps, uploaded half the photos (because as I discovered, they limit you to 80) pushed DONE and there’s a post! But no album. I’ll keep working on this.
The Holiday Inn Express
Mary stayed here and if I may paraphrase:
It’s still the same building and plumbing as built circa 1970(?). The plumbing runs slow, the Keurig machine didn’t work and it looks like a "pig with lipstick”. (Harsh!) On the bright side, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was good, and as every real estate agent will tell you, It’s location, location, location!
I spoke with them today and reserved a block of rooms under the name “Seaholm Class of 1970”. The rate is $159.99/double, that’s about $50 less than usual. The dates are Thursday, July 9, 2020 through Saturday, July 11, 2020. You can make reservations by calling 1-248-642-6200 or online at:
Enter your reservation using SEA as the group/corporate number to get the discount.
Schedule of Events
Just so you know for making your travel plans, we hope to have events spanning from Thursday evening to Sunday Brunch.
The reunion, on Friday July 10 at The Community House, is the only finalized event.
Please share your event ideas with me.
Research Help
I am often asked about classmates who are deceased and the truth is I know almost nothing. It would be terrific to have their stories told. If you are a super sleuth who’s looking for a way to help please contact me. If you were close to a classmate who has passed, please share their story with me.
Missing Information
Please look over the list of classmates in the attached pdf document and send any contact info you may have for them. There are many for which we have no information, and some are known but are not receiving these monthly updates for lack of their email address. Thank you for any help you can offer. refer to missing WHO’S MISSING page
Banner Weather
I awoke on Monday to a nip in the air and thought “Banner weather!” (I intended to insert a picture of our fiery Senior Field Day banner here, but that magic isn’t working tonight)
That was a very fun time and I’m left with great memories... FIFTY years ago!
Last Friday, I think, was Field Day 2019. I saw several girls exiting a restaurant wearing oversized t-shirts with a modified logo for the reality TV show, Survivor. Their’s read: Senior Survivors. I thought: I could use one of those.
