JUNE 2021 UPDATE

Hello.

I know most of you must be eager to hear when the reunion will be scheduled, er… rescheduled. I’m working on that.

To those of you who have asked, I’ve answered, “I don’t know. This is the first super-spreader event I have ever planned.” [God, please don’t let this be a super-spreader event!]

So grant me a little more time to consider all the headlines, variants, restrictions and predictions.

I hope to be able to make an announcement in July.

Class of 70 ZOOMs

Last month we held The 1970 Swim Team photoZOOM. We had a really good time even though we had less attendance than we were anticipating. Afterward, I heard from a classmate who had wanted to join in but thought it was just for swim team members. Please note that all of you are welcome to join in on these zooms. In fact, we hope you will.

This month, we will be holding our Summer Solstice ZOOM Open House. Since the solstice is actually on Sunday, which is Father’s Day, we decided to have the our event on Monday evening.

The theme is ‘Waterside’. We’d like to have as many people as can, join in from locations on or near water; from boats, pools, beaches, lakesides, riversides... open fire hydrants.

This may require some practice. I’m going to test the personal hotspot feature on my phone, which will provide internet to my non-cellular equipped iPad.

If you can’t attend, please send me a picture of yourself by water and let me know where it was taken. We will enjoy the photos during the zoom.

And finally, please attend, even if you are nowhere near water.

Summer Solstice ZOOM Open House
Monday, June 21 2021, 7pm eastern

Come waterside and toast the long-awaited Summer season.

All are invited.

[BTW, this is the third photo of this location you’ve seen, taken at different times of the year, by Jim Hagen. Alway beautiful, and yes, that’s a maple tree.]

Class of 70 READs

Our first book club group has met and discussed the first hundred pages of The Midnight Library. After a great discussion we decided we were enjoying it so much that we would finish the book for our next meeting.

The premise seems as much sci-fi as psychological, about exploring all sorts of possible lives you might have lived, had you made different decisions.

We’ll be meeting next on Monday, June 28 at 5pm. Just drop me a line if you would like to join in and we’ll send you the link.

CHEERS! A Virtual Celebration 2.0

I’m working hard to update CHEERS! I’ve received photos from 6 classmates who want to update their photo and 12 who want to toast for the first time.

I said I would get this to you on the 51st anniversary of our graduation, which is tomorrow, June 11, 2021.

I’ve been slammed with work and other distractions; I’m still trying to get this to you Friday evening… but please, if it takes until Saturday, forgive me.

Stay well,

Wood
